Obituary of Kathleen A. Gallagher, RN

Kathleen A. Gallagher, RN Unadilla, NY Kathleen Ann (Artis) Gallagher, dearly loved mother, grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown at the age of 62. Kathy was born on July 16, 1952, daughter of the late Clifford R. Artis, Jr. and Ethel (Schmermund) Artis in Flushing, Queens. On February 20, 1971, she was married to William T. Gallagher in Whitestone, NY. Kathy's heart was broken with the death of her beloved Bill on June 4, 2014 after 43 years of marriage. She is now happy to be in his arms again. Kathy was the life of the party. She loved to dance and sing. A woman with profound values and work ethic, she went back to school as an adult to become a Registered Nurse, of which she was incredibly proud. She worked for many years at The Hospital in Sidney, as well as with At Home Care in Oneonta. In her time as a nurse, she touched many lives, but none more so than those of her children. She taught all of her children how to love, and taught her son that you're never too old to hug your mother. She loved her family deeply and will be terribly missed. Kathy is survived by: her children: Kathy and Mickey Ritchey and children, Kelley and Megan Ritchey; Patty Gallagher and Jeremy Green and children, Connor Hitchcock, Madeline Hitchcock and Bailey Green; Maureen (Gallagher) and Dennis Babcock and daughter, Allison Babcock; Carrie Gallagher and Kevin Sowersby and children, Hunter Sowersby and Aaron Sowersby; and William, Jr. and Tina Gallagher and children, Lillian, Katelyn, Olivia, William, III and Liam Gallagher and Totianna, Timothy and Tyler Riordan; sisters, Mary Ellen and Joe Rauchbauer, Claire and Bob Swislosky and Joanne and Sam Kedala; sister-in-law, Jane Artis; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Neil and Barbara Gallagher; special friends Michelle and Frank Leonardo, Arthur and Annie Muller and Tony and Carol Caravella; beloved dog, Humphrey; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to her parents and husband, Kathy was predeceased by her brother, Butch. Friends are invited to call from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, April 13th at the funeral chapel with Pastor Bill Allen officiating.
