Obituary of Deborah McGee

Deborah McGee Sidney, NY Deborah “Debbie” McGee, 64, of Sidney, passed away on February 25, 2015 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown after a valiant battle against pulmonary disease. Debbie was born on October 5, 1950, daughter of the late Wendelin A. and Eleanor (Norton) Mertz in Sidney. Debbie taught people how to live life to the fullest. Despite her lengthy illness, she continued to laugh and had a great sense of humor. She was an avid race fan, once working as an Indy flag girl. She loved to travel and read, and had a soft spot for all animals. She was dearly loved and will be truly missed by her 3 siblings: Greg Mertz of Sidney, Wendy McGrady of Kenai, Alaska and Randy Mertz of Sidney; nieces and nephews: Eric, Shannon, Stephanie, Kristin, Natalie, Jerry, Jessica and Jarred, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and grand nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Debbie was predeceased by her brother, Steve Mertz, and her beloved dogs, Andi and Heidi. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00pm on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral services will follow at 8:00pm at the funeral chapel. Burial will be held at 10:00am on Friday, May 22, 2015 in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Delaware Valley Humane Society, 101 E. Main St. Sidney, NY 13838.
