She was born in Binghamton, daughter of the late William and Luella (Bice) McDonald on May 6, 1917. Her namesake was her grandmother Mary Ann (Warner) Bice, who often took Marian to local revival meetings, and who inspired all her grandchildren to make Christ a part of their lives. Marian graduated in January 1936 from Binghamton Central High School, and was class notable as "Best Natured". Marian's kind and gentle manner was enjoyed by all who came in contact with her. She married John E. Cable on November 25, 1937 in West Windsor. Marian also served on the Village Planning Board of Sidney, and volunteered at the Sidney Historical Association (SHA). For the latter, she provided copies of a bicentennial publication with her son, dedicated to her husband on "Intermarriages of Fairfield, Connecticut Pioneer Families of 'The Den', South Walton". She also put together a collection of articles for the SHA on those who served in the military from Sidney. She was former Historian of the McKune-Comfort Reunion Association, and a member of the Connecticut Society of Genealogists.
