My mother (Ellen Wheeler Gyles), and I are very saddened from hearing of the passing of Marian a few moments ago. She brought me back to my extended family through her kind heart. We have lost not just a family member, Marian was the thread that wove through all of us and kept us together as one family. Even though it is impossible for us to be with you, we bow our heads in prayer, and send our love. I know that Marian is with our Lord, and I am sure that at this moment she is saying... okay Peter let me get this straight, your mother was the 2nd cousin twice removed from ...
With Love & respect,
Sheila, Phil, Holly, Paul and Meridith McCormack, & Ellen Gyles (Fran) & Tom Gyles.

A few years ago, while also doing family genealogy, I learned that I had family quite close by and did not realize it. All through email correspondence, I had found cousin Bill and later had the opportunity to meet Marian. Marian, Bill and I did lunch in Delhi, NY...Marian shared a lot of family history with me and had mailed me many interesting reports and other finds. I will miss her and she will always remain in my heart. All my love to the family....Love, Patty

Marian was a long time friend of my Aunt Mary Boice Gale. I had met her briefly through the years with my aunt. When Mary died in 1997, Marian and I spent many many hours together getting the estate settled. I will forever be grateful for all the hard work she did to help and always good naturedly. She helped save many items that I didn't even realize the importance of at the time like a book of postcards which contained notes sent by my grandparents when they were courting. She sorted through endless genealogy papers which I am now working to get posted on Ancestry.com. We were related somehow, but I'm not exactly sure how as of yet. She was a lovely lady and I'm sure she is a bright star where she is now. Condolences to her family. Donna Boice Davenport
