Obituary of Gunther J. Koenig

Gunther J. Koenig Sidney, NY Gunther J. Koenig 86 of Sidney passed away Tuesday April 14, 2009 at his home. He was born July 22, 1922 in Munster, Germany to Julius F. and Emma (Bokelmann) Koenig. Gunther married Lillie McMurdy on March 28, 1948 in the Lutheran Church in Delhi. He came to the United States in 1930 and had many adventures. Gunther worked various jobs since a young age. He was a gifted craftsman and was good with his hands. He made his living as a dairy farmer in Sidney Center. Gunther's greatest joy was his family and friends. He is survived by: Wife of 61 years, Lillie Koenig, Sidney 3 Daughters and Sons-in-law - Karen Sawyer and Mike Guyer, Fulton, NY Audrey and Terry Maurer, Georgetown, KY Sheila and Richard Paul, Masonville Son and daughter-in-law - Gary and Karen Koenig, Walton, NY Grandchildren - Katrina (David) Seymour, Fulton, NY Todd Sawyer, Syracuse, NY Matthew (Jessica) Koenig, Sayre, PA Gregory Koenig, Las Vegas, NV Clarissa (Benjamin) Riker, Sidney Travis DeMott, Masonville Karla Paul, Masonville Great Grandchildren - Zachery, Paige, Justin, Casey and Jonah 2 Sisters - Hilda Bryden, Delhi Gertrude Kathmann, Delhi Brother - O. Charles Koenig, Oneonta Special nieces and nephews Anita and LeRoy Hitt, East Meredith, NY Marjorie and David Struckle, Jordanville And many other nieces and nephews In Laws - Lloyd and Mary Sue McMurdy, East Syracuse Roy and Pat McMurdy, New York Mills, NY He was also predeceased by a niece Louise (Bryden) Utter Friends may call Friday, April 17, 2009. The family will be in attendance from 6-8 PM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 11:00 AM at St. Luke's Lutheran Church 139 West Main St. Sidney Rev. John Priest officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Delhi.
