Norwich, NY--Douglas S. Pierce passed on October 26, 2024, at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich. He was born in born in Bainbridge, the son of Neldon F. Pierce and Gertrude (Dewey) Pierce on June 30, 1942. Doug is survived by sister, Leota F. Hendrix and her daughter, Brenda Craver of Mt. Upton, two nephews and several grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, father and sister, June. Doug graduated from Guilford Central School in 1960. That September, he began his working career at the Unadilla National Bank. He was employed as a Comptroller & CFO at Chase Nursing Home and held accounting positions in three other businesses before retiring in the early 1990's due to health problems. In late 2005 he moved to the Utica area to be with his life partner Richard A. Jardine. They were married on August 18, 2018 at Delta Lake Inn. Upon Richard's passing, Doug moved back to this area to be near family. He attended St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Oxford, NY. Many thanks to his neighbors, Mike and Kelly, for their assistance in caring for the yard and Duke, Doug's puppy companion. The family also extends their gratitude to Dr. T and the 3rd floor staff at Chenango Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:30pm on November 2, 2024 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 34 Main St., Oxford, with calling hours from 1:00 – 2:30 pm prior to the funeral. Doug will be cremated, and interred at Maplewood Cemetery, Mt. Upton, at the family's convenience.
