Obituary of Gladys M. Belokur

Gladys Belokur Sidney, NY Gladys Lucille (McDonald) Belokur of Sidney passed away Sunday January 9th after fighting an extended illness. She was independent to the end. She was born on March 25, 1929 in Johnson City, NY. She was a graduate of Johnson City High School. She also attended Broome Tech from 1948 to 1949. She then married and moved to Bainbridge, NY where she raised four grateful children. After moving to Sidney, NY she worked many years in the Sidney Central School District of a Secretary of the Superintendent's office and guidance office from where she retired in 1989. Gladys was predeceased by her parents Margery and Eldridge McDonald and her sister Mary Ellen Conlin. She is survived by her sister Joyce O'Dea, her children Mary Huray, Alex Belokur, Joyce Payne, and Jean Reding, their spouses Joe, Ruth and Frank, grandchildren Rita, Riley, Lauren, Mary Alice, Matt, Maggie, Anna and two great grandchildren Tate and Lorelei. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sidney Gladys loved her family, friends, crossword puzzles, knitting and doing good for others. A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, January 14, 2011 at Sacred Heart Church 15 Liberty St. Sidney with Fr. Gordon Polenz officiating.
