Obituary of Thomas G. Redmond

Thomas George Redmond, 71, of Sidney, passed away unexpectedly on April 11, 2023. Tom was born on August 12th 1951 to Francis and Bertha Redmond. After Tom graduated from Sidney Central High School in 1970, he went on to study at Hudson Valley Community College. After graduating with a degree in refrigeration and air-conditioning, he started his first job at Wadsworth and Sons. Tom had a 30 plus year career for the Village of Sidney. He was a dedicated 47 year member of the Sidney Fire Department and EMS Squad, where he held many offices. After retiring he enjoyed volunteering for the Delaware County Link to Life program. Tom was well known for his passion to help out others in the community. In 1984, Tom met Sherry Wilson and later married in October 1985 Thomas and Sherry went on to have two daughters, Corey and Paige. Tom was predeceased by his parents, mother-in-law, many aunts and uncles, and one niece. He is survived by his wife, Sherry, daughters Corey and Paige, and son in law Chris Reediger who held a special place in his heart. Tom had three grandchildren, Bennett and twins Syler and Hayes, who he adored. Tom is further survived by his brother Jerry and Jane Redmond, sister Carole and Tom Stanbro, sister Cassie and Mike Knapp, father in law Gale Wilson, brother in laws Randy Wilson, Mark and Mel Wilson, Audrey and Rick Woerter, Robin Wilson, cousins Judy and Horst, Ron, Elinor and Gail. Tom was a loving uncle to many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Friends may call Friday, April 14, 2023 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at CH Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney. Memorial services honoring Tom's service to his community will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, April 15, 2023 at the funeral chapel.
