Obituary of Bertha M. Banks

Bertha M. Banks BAINBRIDGE—Bertha M. "Bert" Banks, 94, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich. She was born on May 29, 1927 in Afton, NY, daughter of the late Clifford M. and Viola (Mitchell) Cutting. On March 25, 1947, she was married to Theodore "Ted" Banks in Afton; sharing 72 years of happiness before he predeceased her on July 12, 2019. Bert was a devoted homemaker, and a longtime dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bainbridge. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, playing cards, camping with family and Sunday car rides. She will be missed by her children: Paula Banks of Liverpool, Sue Fletcher of Bainbridge, and David and Terri Banks of Ashville, PA; four grandchildren: Jamie Fletcher Christensen and her husband, Mikael, Dan Banks and his wife, Pam, Renee Banks and Bethany Banks; four great grandchildren: Karsten Christensen, Thomas Dugan, IV and Lance and Violet Jones; siblings: Phyllis Niles, Rose Mazzarella, Glen (Sharon) Cutting, Richard (Sherry) Cutting, Florence (John) Strong and Elizabeth (Fred) Vroman; in-laws, Diane and Shirley Cutting, Jerry Decker and June Smedley; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Bert was predeceased by four brothers, Clifford, Jr., Loren, Robert and John Cutting, and two sisters, Shirley Decker and Edna "Jo" Shearer. Friends may call from 4:00-7:00pm on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, April 27th at the First Presbyterian Church of Bainbridge, 3 Church St. Bainbridge, NY 13733.
