Obituary of Lanny Earle Jones

Lanny Earle Jones, 69, of Unadilla NY passed away unexpectedly in his home on August 8, 2018. Lanny was born on April 23, 1949 to John Paul and Onolee (Balderston) Jones. Lanny graduated from Sidney Central School in June 1968 and from there started working at York Rakes in Unadilla. He worked there for 46 years retiring in April 2014. He married Debra Ann Lester on August 25, 2001. He loved the Doodlebug club, hunting, spending time with his family, and watching NASCAR and WWF wrestling. He also enjoyed feeding and watching the deer and birds in his backyard. Also, he loved his cat, Hokey. Lanny was predeceased by his Mother (Feb. 1995) and his Father (August 1991) and Brother Jerry (July 2013). He is survived by his loving wife Debra, sons and daughter-in-laws, Glenn E. and Lisa A. Jones of Smyrna NY, Timothy J. and Catherine Jones of Augusta Maine; Brother and Sister-in-law, Joel and Connie Jones of Sidney NY; adopted son Brian Hodges of Unadilla NY; grandchildren, Jake Sweet of Earlville NY; Todd Sweet of Smyrna NY; Hanna G. Jones of Smyrna NY; Emma and Aidan Jones of Augusta Maine; Great Grandson Carter Sweet of Earlville NY; along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins and his special friends Ella and Evan. Per Lanny's wishes, there will be no calling hours but instead a graveside service on August 15, 2018 at 1:00pm at Maplewood Cemetery in Mt. Upton which will be his final resting place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in Lanny's memory to the Unadilla Emergency squad or the American Diabetes Association.
