Obituary of Ellen Egli

Ellen Egli 92, of Sidney, NY passed away peacefully on May 26, 2018 at the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, MA. She was born on October 5, 1925, the youngest of four daughters raised by Clarence and Harriet (Lewis) Hurlburt of Afton, NY. Ellen graduated from the Afton High School and Lowell School of Business in Binghamton. She first worked for the Afton School System and then at Bendix in Sidney during WWII. On March 28, 1948 she married Henry Egli of Sidney and after their children had grown Ellen joined the family business where she worked until shortly before her death. She enjoyed being with family, keeping up with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, watching her favorite sports teams, and gardening. Ellen is survived by her daughter Janis (Al) Bravo of Lenox, MA, son Denis (Sandra) Egli of Sidney, and son Gary (Kate) Egli of Enfield, CT. She is also survived by seven grandchildren Emma and Anna Egli, Andrew and Christopher Bravo, Sara Kilty (Jay), Michael Egli, Jerry Egli, and six great grandchildren. Ellen was preceded in death by her husband Henry and son Ronald. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Charlotte Laraway, Frances Pratt and Dorothy Cummings. Friends are invited to call on Saturday June 2 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. A funeral service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 25 River St. Sidney, NY following the calling hours. Memorial donations in her name may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
