Mr. Warren was the kind of familiar face and valued teacher at the Sidney High School where he taught me and many of my classmates history. After living years away from Sidney, in New York City, I would see him occasionally upon my visits home to Sidney to see my mother and I was pleased to see that he became town Mayor. He always had a nice hello and recognition for everyone he met. He was the kind of man that made my memories of growing up and living in a small town meaningful. He passed away almost 2 years after my mother. He lives on you can be sure, in the memories of his students and many more in the community as he was what made small towns the special places that they are. My condolences to his family.

Jim helped make Sidney a better place to live by serving as Village Trustee and Mayor for 20 years. I was fortunate to serve as Jim's Deputy Mayor for 12 years. He helped prepare for my job as Mayor of the Village of Sidney.
He will be missed by all in the Village of Sidney. My prayers are with you and your family.
God Bless.

To the Warren family:
Very sorry to read of the loss of Mr. Warren. He was a beloved teacher at Oneonta High School when I attended; a favorite of so many students. I remember his dedication, thorough knowledge of material, kindness toward students, and service to community. Alumni from my class have posted remembrances on the OHS Class of 1976 page on facebook. Condolences and peace to all the family.

Dear Gail, I am so sorry for your loss. I have many fond memories of Mr. Warren in his American History class at OHS. He was always a good & kind man. I thought he enjoyed being there with his students. I remember seeing him in the hallways of the Sidney Civic Center when he was mayor of Sidney when I was working with Even Start. He always had a warm smile of recognition for me and a friendly hello. I was glad to see him again when you both went to his appointments at Bassett Cardio. It was a pleasure meeting you and getting to know you, as well as seeing Mr. Warren again. He'll always have my utmost respect. You're in my thoughts & prayers at this difficult time. Jenny

I’m so sorry to hear of Mr.Warren’s passing. He was my favorite teacher! He always kept our attention and made learning fun. Sometimes we would sidetrack him into regaling us with his stories of his Marine Corp days with his pal, Kenny. I hope that you all have wonderful memories to ease the pain of your loss. Sincerely, Deb Morrison

I was one of many of Mr. Warren's students at Oneonta High School. While I'm certain I was quite unremarkable as a student, he will be forever one of my favorite teachers. When I look back at high school, he is the one I always talk about.
Condolences to the Warren family.

Mr. Warren was always involved in the lives of others. Family came first, then his country, his students, his community, and beyond that as mayor- especially through that 2006 flood.
The summer of 1975 he coached our championship Kiwanis-sponsored baseball team. Or rather he was there - and let us have fun. Great times.
As the years passed he always remembered me and my family. As busy as he was, that gesture was always appreciated. Condolences to the family.
