Lereau S. Winchester, Jr.
Bainbridge, NY
Lereau S. Winchester, Jr. better known as Punk, General, Grandpa or Pa; went to sleep at his home on January 6, 2016.
He was born October 24, 1931, son of the late Lereau and Bernice (Darling) Winchester, Sr. in Warren, PA. Lereau attended school in Hancock from 1936-45, Unadilla Central from 1945-49 and Morrisville College from 1949-50.
He served his country in the United States National Guard from 1950-53.
Lereau worked as a drafting engineer for Rathion in New Hampshire and for 30 years he was a mechanic for Charles Husted Trucking in Mt. Upton.
He loved to attend his grandsons sporting events and working the pit crew for Drag Racing and Dirt Track Racing with his son Jeff.
Lereau is survived by:
5 Children – Mike Winchester and his wife Donna of Mt. Upton
Sherman Winchester, Lawrenceville, GA
Deb Sherman and her husband Joe, Norwich
Jeff Winchester and Deb Meyer, East Meredith
Sandy Winchester, Mt. Upton
Siblings – Alvina Rudnitski and husband Stuart, Unadilla
Raymond Winchester, Oneonta
Theodore Winchester and his wife Renee, Wells Bridge
James Winchester and his wife Darlene, Otego
Grandchildren – Brianna, Cali, Josh, Megan and Tanner
1 Great Granddaughter
And several nieces, nephews and cousins
He was also predeceased by his brother, Charles.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Wells Bridge Fire Department.
