Obituary of Richard E. Kinter

Richard E. Kinter Bainbridge, NY Richard E. Kinter, 88, of Bainbridge, passed away on January 1, 2016 at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich. He was born on August 10, 1927, son of the late Ross and Mable (Miller) Kinter in West Colesville. He enlisted in the US Army in 1945 and served his country until his honorable discharge in August 1947. He retired from Borden Chemical Co. in Bainbridge, where he was a shipping clerk for over 30 years. After retirement, he went to warmer weather for a couple of years working as a carpenter building homes in the Wilmington, NC area. He then returned to New York and held several other jobs over the course of many years until he finally officially retired when he was in his 70's. He was a gentle man that loved people. He always had time to stop and visit with friends he'd meet, tell a joke and make you laugh, and always took the time to help whoever needed it. His family was his greatest joy. Richard is survived by: his wife, Wilma (Shelton) Kinter of Guilford; four children: Elaine and Frank Selleck of Unadilla, Tim and Terri Kinter of Bainbridge, Bonnie and Roger Williams of Bainbridge and Rick and Deirdre Kinter of Parksville, KY; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his daughter, Dianne Drury and nine brothers and sisters. Friends are invited to call from 5:00-7:00pm on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Hospice & Palliative Care of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St. Norwich, NY 13815.
