My earliest memory of Butch was when we were in Elementary School. Butch, Kenny and Sue lived at the top of Lincoln Ave. and I lived at the bottom. We all spent many rainy days playing in their basement and many snowy days riding sleds down the hill into my driveway. I will always remember Butch as a very unique person who made it to every class reunion eager to "catch up" with everyone. My thoughts and prayers are with Butch's entire family.

The news of Alan's death has reached us with a shock. He has not writen in a long time so maybe I should have 'Q' in. His last email was a beautiful picture of the ship made from the Trade Center metal. He did tell us he was going to have some surgery and was waiting to hear for him. Just so sorry as he was such a nice fellow, for sure. I was happy for him to come back to his roots but did look forward to a visit from him as we are very easy to get to.
May you all find comfort in the memories he left and know he will love his new body and is with all the family he love to write to us about. He was my favorite Pen Pal.
God Bless You All.

I have known Butch for years going back to his days at Sidney High School...when he used to regularly stop by to chat with myself and Mr. Warren (now the mayor who back then was just down the hall from me at Sidney HS)...He was always a sweet caring soul and I was very proud to be considered a friend of his. We used to regularly see him at Sacred Heart Church over the years and he would always stop with a smile and fill us in on his life at that time. We knew he had cancer but as usual he was optimistic with a smile about the success of surgery and his future. We were obviously sad to hear about his passing...he truly was a wonderful soul. We are sorry that we will be out of town for his funeral services with some family obligations long planned. Butch will indeed be in our prayers but we have little doubt that this fine human being is indeed being welcomed to his heavenly reward. We will miss this friend.

Growing up with Butch in my family has helped to shape the person I am now. He was always sure of his intentions and goals, and he has inspired me to pursue my dreams relentlessly. His knowledge of music never failed to amaze me. His uniqueness has made a lasting impression on everyone he has met. Miss you and love you Butch.
