Obituary of Ray G. Whispell

Ray G. Whispell, Jr. Unadilla, NY Ray G. Whispell, Jr., 80, of Unadilla, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at his home. He was born on June 7, 1935 in Stamford, NY, son of the late Raymond Whispell, Sr. and Beatrice (Tompkins) Whispell. Following high school, Ray made his career as a Tool Maker at Amphenol Corporation in Sidney. On October 27, 1973, he was married to Minnie (Hawver) Wright. In his younger years, Ray enjoyed racing modified street stock cars. He loved horses and loved to ride. He also enjoyed watching westerns. Ray was a long time member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #277, Sidney. Ray is survived by: His loving wife of 42 years, Minnie Whispell of Unadilla 2 Step-daughters: Karen and Dave Wakeman of Unadilla and Cindy Hawkins and her companion, Don Wood of Unadilla 5 grandchildren: Marcey and Adam Rude, Jerry and Talia Hawkins, Scott and Sarah Sastra, David and Lisa Wakeman and Ashley Wakeman Great-grandchildren: Dylan Hawkins, Aidan Hawkins-Odell, Zoey, Thomas, Jonathan and Emma Rude, Dawson Backus, Alyssa, Damon and Skyler Hawkins, Damion Hornbeck and Andrew and Adeline Wakeman. Sister, Hilda Snee of Richardson, KY; nephew, Ed Robinson and his son, Lance and Shannon Robinson, of Richardson, KY. In addition to his parents, Raymond and Beatrice Whispell, Ray was predeceased by his grandson, Tom Hawkins. Graveside services will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 in Prospect Hill Cemetery with Rev. Adam Sellen officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Catskill Area Hospice & Palliative Care, 1 Birchwood Dr. Oneonta, NY 13820.
