Dorothy P. Mackey
Dorothy P. Mackey, age 93, passed away on November 1, 2015 at the New York State Veteran's Home in Oxford, where she had resided for the last 3 years. She was born on June 5, 1922 in Burlington Flats, NY to the late Sherman L. and Ella S. Paige. She married Elson F. Mackey, Jr., who predeceased her in 1983.
Dorothy is survived by 4 daughters, Sandra and Walt Bailey of Texas, Tina Mackey and LeRoy of Binghamton, Bonnie George and Claude of Sidney and Lisa Murphy of Sidney; a son, Jeffrey and MaryJane Mackey of Unadilla; a good friend, Keith Moretz of Florida; 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was predeceased by sons, Dennis, Elson F. the III, Donald and Rusty; daughter and son-in-law Cynthia and Robert Hall; and son-in-law Phil Murphy.
The family would like to express deep gratitude to the entire staff at the NYS Veteran's Home in Oxford for the excellent care Dorothy received during her residence there.
There will be no calling hours or funeral per Dorothy's request. Graveside services will be Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Prospect Hill Cemetery, East Main Street, Sidney, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Sidney Veterans Park c/o Sidney Community Foundation, P.O. Box 333 Sidney, NY 13838. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family online at www.landersfh.com.
Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, Sidney.
