Obituary of Leslie Gerald Smith

Leslie G. Smith, Mt. Upton, NY Leslie G. Smith 91 of Mt. Upton passed away, June 16, 2015 at Wilson Regional Medical Center in Johnson City with his grandson, Brian and Tammy French as his side. He was born December 21, 1923 son of the late Gerald and Dorothy (Rayner) Smith in Muskegon, MI. Les served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1943-1946; he was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He married Roberta Wright on October 19, 1946; they were married for 68 years and had 5 children together. Les retired from Bendix in Sidney after 40 years of employment. He was a sociable person and had many friends. Les is survived by his devoted wife, Roberta 3 Children; Robert Smith, Barbara (Walter) Hills and David Smith. Grandchildren, Brian (Tammy) French, Melanie(Shane) Hallam, Jessie, Renee, Jamie and Jessica Smith As well as a special cousin Ethel Rayner And several great grandchildren Les was also predeceased by son Leslie Jr. and daughter, Margaret Ann. Graveside services with military honors will be held Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 11:00 AM in Greenlawn Cemetery in Bainbridge. Rev. Brandilynne Craver, Pastor of the United Methodist Church in Mt.
