Obituary of Elson Frederick Mackey

Elson Frederick Mackey, III (Fred) East Moriches, NY Elson Frederick "Fred" Mackey, III, 60 of East Moriches, Long Island, and formerly of Sidney, passed away unexpectedly October 20, 2009 at North Adams Regional Hospital, North Adams, MA while vacationing in Greylock, MA. Fred was born on March 22, 1949, the first son of Elson Mackey, Jr. and Dorothy (Paige) Mackey. He graduated from Sidney High School in 1967. Fred drove tractor trailer for Mayflower and worked at several area car dealerships as Parts Manger. He is survived by: His mother, Dorothy Mackey of Bainbridge Longtime companion, Margaret Szmidt of East Moriches Daughter Sharlene and Jim Robinson of Ithaca Two sons: Richard Mackey of Binghamton Patrick Mackey of Windsor 4 Grandchildren Brother Jeffrey and Mary Jane Mackey of Unadilla Sisters: Sandra Bailey of Melbourne, FL, Cynthia and Robert Hall of Sidney, Tina Mackey of Binghamton, Bonnie George of Sidney and Lisa Murphy of Downsville As well as 16 nieces and nephews Fred was predeceased by his father "Mack", and his brothers Rusty Mackey, Donald Mackey and Dennis Paige. Friends are invited to call on from 1:00pm-2:00pm on Monday, October 26, 2009 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm at the funeral chapel. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
