Obituary of Wilford E. Baker

Wilford E. Baker Bainbridge, NY Wilford E. Baker, 80 of Bainbridge, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at the New York State Veterans Home in Oxford where he was a resident. Wilford was born on September 13, 1929, son of the late Ward and Margaret (Hoyt) Baker in Walton, NY. Wilford joined the United States Air Force in 1946, serving until he was honorably discharged in 1949. On November 26, 1950, Wilford married Iva Owen in Binghamton, NY. She predeceased him on October 3, 2006 after nearly 56 years of marriage. Wilford was a Reactor Operator for Borden's Chemical Company in Bainbridge for over 25 years, retiring in 1988. Wilford is survived by: 4 children: Marie and Donald Noble Liverpool, NY Roger and Annette Cook Bainbridge Virginia and William Nelson Pennsylvania John and Kim Cook Idaho 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren 1 sister, Juanita Jones Binghamton Sister-in-law, Helen Rockefeller Syracuse Wilford was predeceased by his son, Michael Baker on August 26, 2008, his daughter, Jacqueline Baker, his brother, Rufus Baker. Friends are invited to call from 11:00am-1:00pm on Monday, October 5, 2009 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm at the funeral chapel with Rev. Benjamin Shaw officiating. Military honors will be accorded. Burial will take place at the North Sanford Cemetery, North Sanford, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Wilford's name may be directed to the Afton Emergency Squad or to the Patients Care Fund at the New York State Veterans Home 4207 State Highway 220 Oxford, NY 13830.
