Robert L. Harrington, Sr.
Wells Bridge, NY
Robert Lee Harrington, Sr., "Rob", 69, of Wells Bridge, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at his home with his loving wife by his side.
Rob was born on June 27, 1945 in Guilford, NY, son of Edward V. and Ethel (Edwards) Harrington and attended Mt. Upton School. On December 25, 1964, Rob was married to Bonnie Macumber in Bainbridge. They shared 50 happy years together.
Rob was employed by Keith Clark, Vuxi and retired from Trimac Industries. Additionally, with the help of his sons, he built H&S Chainsaw Shop in Bainbridge. A talented craftsman, he built their home from the ground up, entirely solar powered and self-reliant.
Rob always had a love of the woods and outdoors, and enjoyed logging and chopping firewood. He loved hunting and fishing as well as gardening and canning, although he was always disappointed he didn't really have a green thumb. In his younger years, Rob was an amateur ghost hunter, even though he never did find a ghost.
Rob had very strong family values, and was extremely independent and self-sufficient. He loved to argue politics as well as make people laugh.
Rob will be missed by: his beloved wife of 50 years, Bonnie Harrington; two sons, Robert Harrington, Jr. (Shelley) of Afton and John Harrington (Mike) of Lyon Mountain, NY; grandchildren, Brandi Harrington (Patrick) of West Edmeston and Brandon Harrington (Ashley) of Guilford; great grandchildren, Aalijah, Urijah and Rhett; sister, Araminta Fravel of Norwich; brother, Paul Harrington, Sr. (Kay) of Guilford; brother-in-law, Bud and Chris Macumber of Mt. Upton; sisters-in-law, Betty Butcher of Plant City, FL and Shirley DeMott (Reggie) of Sidney; and brother-in-law, Martin Borst (Karen) of Rockdale; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and dear friends Reggie and Mary Fitch of South New Berlin.
In addition to his parents, Rob was predeceased by Brother, David Harrington, sister-in-law, Rosemarie Harrington and his mother-in-law, Beatrice Macumber.
At Rob's request, there will be no services. Burial will take place in Sand Hill Cemetery, Wells Bridge, at a later date. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family online at www.landersfh.com.
Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, Sidney.
