I was so sorry to hear of Bernie's passing. She was a wonderful, inspirational woman. I knew her when I worked for the American Cancer Society. She was a huge part of the ABC support group and the Relay For Life. I was always amazed by her positive attitude. She touched many lives in her outreach to other cancer survivors.

I sure am going to miss her visits to the Bainbridge Free lib. I enjoyed helping her fill her bag with our large print books every few weeks. Bainbridge has once again lost one of our fine elders

I only had the pleasure of meeting Bernie one time, but that is all it took to see and know her love of family, friends and life. We played a couple games of cards, and while I was sure I would win, I never did -- she could really play! Her wonderful smile has been passed down through the generations. May she rest in eternal peace, and may light perpetual shine on her, Gunnar, and the Wahlberg family.

My thoughts and prayers are with you boys and your family. Your mother and I spent many hours playing scrabble with Helen Haynes. She was always full of life and I enjoyed the birthday party at the Bainbridge Museum. She lived a great, full life, full of laughter and good times.

Bernie was alway cheerful and upbeat. She loved people and people loved her. I will miss her and the lunches and dinners we had together and, of course, the wine. With heartfelt sympathy to the family.

Bernie was like a second Mom to us kids. Not long after our mom passed away in 2001 - Bernie would start cooking for Dad and me.
I remember one day being home from Boston Bernie poked her head out the back door. Eddie - go pick up some strawberries and some rhubarb and I'll make you a pie.
Whever I am home I would drop over to see Bernie two or three times a day. I'll miss that 9pm good night glass of wine.
We love you Bernie.
You are already missed

I will surely miss Bernie. We have played golf many times over the many years, gone out to lunch and even looking way back I used to babysit with you three boys. She will rest in peace after a very terrific long life!

I had heard Bernie stories for years from Charlotte Cole but just met Bernie at the pitch league this past year. She was a character and always had a kind word and asked after my mom. I enjoyed what little time I spent with her and will miss her.

I remember how Bernie and Gunnar would love to dance. During the 40's and 50's - they would be out and about dancing nearly every Friday night. Bernie really loved the Polka's.
Ester and I along with Bernie and Gunnar spent many a night on the dance floor.
We'll Miss you Bernie
Love,
Thorny

Bernie and my mom Fran Houck were great friends for years. They played golf and lots of cards together. Since my mom passed away she would stop at my office and check in when she could. She will be missed. I know how much she loved her family. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
