Patti I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Floyd. I only met him a few times but I could see how he became the one for you. I am not the best person for staying in touch with the people from my past but I think of you often and have you and your family in my prayers. You had 40 years but it is never enough. How did we reach an age where these things start to happen? I don't feel that old until I look in the mirror.

Floyd was a huge support for my brother Jerry, and many others, in their struggles with cancer. His positive attitude was inspirational to all whose lives he touched. He helped many to see and live their lives with hope, joy, and love, instead of dark despair. We all owe Floyd our thanks for having touched our lives in such a meaningful way.
To Floyd's family and friends, thank you for sharing Floyd with us, and may you take some comfort in knowing how helpful he was to so many.

I met Floyd when he and I (and his brother Ray) worked on the summer crew for the Village of Sidney in the summer of 1971. We didn't make much money; we were being paid $1.50 per hour. But we had a lot of great conversations about politics and books and music. I remember Floyd was an Elvis fan; I wasn't. But Floyd insisted I borrow some of his Elvis albums, and he did succeed in changing my opinion. Over the years, it was always such a pleasure to see him, and we remembered some of the fun we had that summer.
My dad, Dixie, died last year. If he was still here, he would want to say how much he valued Floyd as a Village Board member. After my dad retired from being Mayor, he often said that he was fortunate to have served with so many capable people --Floyd was always one of the ones he mentioned.
I'll remember Floyd as a friend --smart, very funny, passionate about the things that mattered to him (like Elvis) and a person of enormous kindness.

If ever there was a face of positive energy regarding the battle with cancer, it was Floyd. His words, his convictions, his message were so powerful,
Like others, I stood in awe listening to his story during the kickoff dinner and again at the opening ceremonies for Relay for Life. Always a battler, but never wanting anyone to feel sorry for him. Floyd took on cancer with the same "can do" attitude as he lived his life.
I will always think of of Floyd in his trademark Brooklyn Dodgers cap and a smile that never wavered. A good man is gone, but will always be an inspiration to others. You can not ask for more. RIP my friend.

Dear Patti, children, grandchildren and family members:
The world is a much sadder and lonely place without Floyd in it. We always enjoyed running into him whenever we saw him and catching up on our kids and life's events. He was a dedicated man to his family, community and to the Pee Wee/Little League sports program. Ryan and Noel enjoyed his coaching skills and caring as much as the rest of the team members and parents. Floyd will "definitely" be missed by so many of us, yet his memory will live on in our hearts forever.

Floyd and I were friends as young kids and through High School. He was always quick with a smile or a laugh. Lots of fun to be around. I will miss my walking friend dearly. He made a great speech at the ACS relay for life a few years ago. I was just thinking of him last week wondering how he was. Then I thought how funny he was and the meetings at work we so much better when he was speaking. He was so compassionate about his family and loved his dog Charlie/chuck I believe was the name. I'm deeply saddened of his passing and thinking about everyone in his family. It was a pleasure to know him.

I was lucky and blessed to have our paths cross at the Great American where we began a friendship that started with a conversation about a cause dear to both of our hearts and one we were proud to have Floyd a part of...Relay For Life. It was a great honor to have Floyd as a member of our team and as the Survivor speaker at one of our events. He was an inspiration to many. I will miss seeing him at the store and even more as a part of our future Relays. He will remain in my heart and in my thoughts as we continue our fight on cancer and our goal to find a cure.
