Leona B. Rossini
Sidney—Leona B. Rossini, 88, long time resident of Sidney, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the Chenango Memorial Nursing Home in Norwich. Leona was born on July 29, 1926, daughter of the late Stiney and Bertha (Turleski) Krasowski in Shenandoah, PA. She was married to Salvadore "Toots" Rossini on October 21, 1944 in Townsend, MD. They relocated to New York in 1946 and spent their lives in Sidney. Salvadore predeceased her on March 12, 1982.
Leona was a member of the Gold Star Mothers after losing her son, Lt. Ronald Rossini, a US Marine, in Vietnam in 1969. She was also a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter #502, the VFW and American Legion Ladies Auxiliaries and the Sidney Elks Lodge #2175. She worked as an assembler with Bendix Corporation, later retiring from the company. Leona also enjoyed bowling and traveled all over the state to participate in tournaments.
Leona is survived by her best friends, Kay and Kermit Marble, and dear friends and caregivers, Charlie and Linda Marble and Michelle McDonald.
In addition to her parents, husband and son, Leona was predeceased by her long time companion, Maurice Dunn as well as two sisters.
Services will be private. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney. Condolences may be made online at www.landersfh.com.
