Ted was a part of my life as long as I can remember, and I have become a better person because of him. He will be missed. I have written a poem about my memories of him. My dad read some of it at Ted's Funeral services. The complete poem is posted on my blog:

Dr. Elliott surely will be missed by so many. I was so happy to see him in 2007 after the March of the Classes during Alumni Weekend. I reminded him that he had hired me to fill in as receptionist the summer between my Sophomore and Junior years and was surprised that he remembered. He was always nice to me, especially my first day on the job when I mixed up the lenses when putting them away after he had used them in examining his first patient of the day! He made that discovery during the examination of the second patient (which must have been "interesting")! I loved working there that summer and was always grateful to him for giving me the opportunity.

Farewell Uncle Ted! Thank you for all the memories at Guilford Lake. Thanks to for helping me see things more clearly!! You were truly an inspiration to me and all of my family. You will be greatly missed but I know you are holding hands once again with Aunt LaRue. I wrote a poem for your 90th birthday entitled "Thanks for the Memories" but I can't find my copy of it...but I still have the treasured memories... Love you, Joan

RIP Dr. Elliot.. It has ben a pleasure knowing Dr Elliot For almost 20yrs. I have enjoyed all the zest for life he possessed and learned allot about the history of the cottage at Guilford Lake and about The Family. I enjoyed.. and was honored to be at his memorable 100th birthday last year. He was truly a great man. To The Elliot Family my deepest condolences.

On several occasions at Sidney Rotary meetings I had the privilege of starting Ted off in his rendition on what happened in Sidney on the night of his birth. He did this every 5 years and was an event that I remember well. He was a great citizen in our community and will be missed by his many friends. Rest in peace.

I remember Ted and his wife LaRue. They were our back yard neighbors during my later teen years. I bought my first car from Ted - a green 1949 Clevy Convertible that my future wife and I painted red, and did a poor job of it. My parents purchased many glasses from Dr. Elliott. Ted was the kind of man I looked up to. He cared about his neighbors, his community and those who sought out his services. He was deeply respected and loved by many people. The relationship he had with the Almighty was visually seen in the positive way he served and lived.

A man of distinction, grace and sense of community, Ted Elliott must be considered one of the upper echelon of Sidney residents, though I'm sure he would downplay it all.
Here is a prime example of a life lived to its fullest. It was my pleasure to announce Ted (and prior to 2009 his wife) first for the SCS Class of 1931 during March of the Classes. Thank you, Dr. Elliott, for your century of service to your hometown...
