Obituary of Rodney E. Rutenber

Rodney E. Rutenber Mt. Upton, NY Rodney E. Rutenber 78 of Mt. Upton passed away Sunday, July 26, 2009 at his home with his family by his side. He was born January 8, 1931, son of the late Ernest and Nellie (Seeley) Rutenber in Sidney. Rodney married Alice O'Hara on March 3, 1953 in Sidney. She predeceased him on October 13, 1975. Rodney was a lifelong dairy farmer who loved to go to auctions and collect industrial and agricultural toys. He loved spending time with his family he especially enjoyed giving his grandchildren and great grandchildren tractor rides around the farm. Rodney is survived by: Wife - Elthea (Burrows) Rutenber, Mt. Upton Daughter and son-in-law - Connie and Doug Ackley, South New Berlin 3 Sons and 2 Daughters-in-law - Reno and Jeanette Rutenber, Mt. Upton Daniel and Robin Rutenber, Brockport Thomas Rutenber, Holmesville Step-son - Bill Holliday, Harpursville Daughter-in-law - Pamela Rutenber, Oregon Sister and Brother-in-law - Shirley and Dan Fontanez, Scranton, PA Brother and sister-in-law - David and Carol Rutenber, Unadilla 10 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren Several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by 2 Sons Timothy and Robert. Friends may call Wednesday, July 29, 2009 from 7-9 PM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 30, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the funeral chapel. Rev. Romeyn Kipp and Rev. Gerald Bovee will co-officiate. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Sidney.
