Obituary of Dorothy M. Shaw

Dorothy May (Meres) Shaw Sidney, NY Dorothy May (Meres) Shaw 98 of Sidney and formerly of Meredith passed away early Sunday morning, February 9, 2014 at A.O. Fox Hospital, Oneonta. She was born March 23, 1915 in the Town of Walton. On October 18, 1933, she married Benjamin T. Shaw in Meredith. She was a Sidney resident for the past fourteen years. Dorothy was a longtime member of the Meredith Baptist Church. Dorothy and her husband operated a dairy farm in the town of Meredith from 1935 until their retirement in 1968. She enjoyed cooking and baking. She especially enjoyed and loved her family. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Benjamin H. and Kathryn Shaw, Sidney, Floyd and Lila Shaw, Cookeville, TN, Lynn and Jean Shaw or Troy, daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Roger Crooks of Hudson, FL., three sisters-in-law, Ina Meres, Bainbridge, Betty Blanchard of Binghamton, and Joyce Shaw of Meredith; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Benjamin T., Son, William (Bill), four brothers Angie, Burt, Gilbert and Alvin Meres, and one sister Mary Thompson. Family and friends may call from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street Sidney. Funeral services will begin at 1:00pm at the funeral chapel with Rev. Tom Pullyblank, pastor of the Sidney United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at the Woodland Cemetery, Delhi.
