Obituary of Marion G. Hanson

Marion G. Hanson Afton, New York Marion G. Hanson 85 of Afton passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City. She was born March 29, 1924 daughter of the late Earl and Mildred (Higgins) Barrie in Pawtucket, RI. Marion married George B. Hanson on July 9, 1943 in East Providence, RI. He predeceased her on October 27, 2006. Marion enjoyed crafts and loved to sing. She sang for St. Ann's Episcopal Church in Afton where she was a member as well as the BC Pops. Marion was also an active member and Past President of the Marine Corp. League Auxiliary Marion is survived by: A daughter and son-in-law - Judith and William Wasson, Thomaston, ME 2 Sons and a daughter-in-law - Robert and Frances Hanson, Massapequa Park, NY Eric Hanson, Afton, NY 8 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren And 6 sisters. Marion is also predeceased by 2 sons, Richard and James Hanson and 3 brothers Friends may call Sunday, July 12, 2009 from 4-7 PM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 13, 2009 at 11:00 AM at St. Ann's Episcopal Church in Afton. Fr. Ralph Groskoph will officiate. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery in Afton. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions maybe made in Marion's name to St. Ann's Episcopal Church Main St. Afton, NY 13730.
