Obituary of Helen Grace Edson

Helen Edson Afton, NY Helen Grace Edson 85 of Afton went to be with her husband on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at her home surrounded by family. She was born July 15, 1927, daughter of the late Wayne and Grace (Barnard) Hendrickson in Afton. Helen married Elbert F. "Red" Edson in 1946 in Great Bend, PA. They owned and operated Edson Brothers Oil Co. until 1957 when they sold the company and moved to Florida. Helen and Red resided in Florida until his retirement in 1977 and moved back to New York. They lived happily and devoted to each other until he predeceased her on November 26, 2005. Helen continued to stay busy, she attended the First Baptist Church in Afton and was a member of the Afton Senior Group. Helen is survived by: Children - Gerald W. Harris and wife Nancy, Afton Shirley Butler and husband Jeff, Afton Marjorie Salmela and husband, Jack, Melbourne, FL David L. Edson and wife Joann, Titusville, FL Brother - Lawrence Hendrickson, Cortland Her most precious friend and companion, her dog, Chari Many Grand, Great, and Great, Great Grandchildren As well Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and cousins Helen was also predeceased by a granddaughter, Carla Hinkley Friends may call Tuesday, June 4, 2013 from 6-8 PM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, at 10:00 AM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel with Rev. Chris Prezorski, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Afton officiating. Helen will be laid to rest with her husband in Eastside Cemetery in Afton. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Christ Church 166 Marion Ave (State Hwy. 51) P.O.
