My Condolences to the entire Vance family. I remember Jimmy from my many years living in Sidney and working at Bendix with Janet. Jim was having many health issues back then....this was the early 80's, but I never ever heard him complain. I was so happy to hear he was able to receive the transplant. He was truly blessed and enjoyed many good years after that. I'm sure you all have many happy memories. God Bless you all.

Jim and I knew each other briefly in the 90's. We had many a chat in the Community Lounge and he would razz me horrible about smoking. The story of his lung transplant made the reasons why quite apparent. I had a deep respect and admiration for him and even used his story as an opening for a speech on organ transplantation in college. Although our paths have not crossed in many, many years I was quite saddened to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of those who loved him. The world has lost a shining star.

Oh, how I remember Rotary Radio Day of years ago. Jim came in, usually 20 minutes early to "warm up". I never had the nerve to tell him his word per minute were twice the normal speed and that if he slowed down, we could all understand him. Obviously, as the last 20+ years showed, he had lots to say! We lost touch the last few years, sorry to say, but boy did Jim Vance have an impact of positiveness with everyone he met and befriended. He will be missed.
