It is so sad to hear of Perk's passing. Guilford will not be the same but God knows Perk, you have earned the rest.

As well-respected a man as I've ever encountered. Condolences to the entire family from the Davie family - my parents Norm & Donna included.

Perk walked with God -- a term I would not apply to very many. I was his pastor for some 7+ years, and he and Vida maintained a home of gracious hospitality. He had great integrity and a wonderful sense of humor. Whether he was serving faithfully on the Guilford Center Presbyterian Church's Session or delighting children (young and old!) as Santa Claus at the annual church Christmas party, my memories of Perk are good ones. When we were clearing old plaster out of the welcoming room at the church, he remarked to me "You've never shoveled manure, have you?!" with that twinkle in his eyes. Perk and Vida, now reunited in God's house, rest in peace.

Perk always had a big smile and a wave each time he drove a tractor passed our house. His love of farming, the outdoors, and the land was obvious. He was a very enjoyable and interesting person to chat with. We already miss him, but take comfort in knowing his spirit will always be present on Schlafer Hill.
With thoughtful regards, Rod Sutton and Jo Ann Wormuth

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time. We will always remember Uncle Perk as a quiet and gentle man. It is hard to picture him without also seeing Aunt Vida. You all have lovely memories of both of them

Dan, Nancy and Susan,
Praying for all of you as you grieve the passing of your Dad. Perk was the best man for my parents wedding. Your grandpa Frank was my dad's first cousin. Working on his farm was what brought Dad (Lester Heidrich) to the area. Your parents were wonderful people. So glad we saw all of you a few years ago at the Schlafer reunion. God bless you and comfort your hearts.

There are positively no words in any American dictionary that could describe the bond that was created in 8 months with this amazing man. It's ironic how you walk into a home with all your paperwork, goals, assessment tools, and a head full of experience and knowledge, yet, while clinical interventions were periodically utilized {with Perky's approval of course). Anytime we walked into Perky's home we had work that needed to be completed prior to leaving(with Perky's permission) and gernally the work was completed. You would walk out of Perky's door and instead of thinking about your assessments and such or the visit you were now headed to, you would yourself waling to your vehicle with the biggest grin on your face and a thought in your head that went something like this, "Wow! Another visit with the man possessed with courage longer than his property, a mind with an unbelieveable intelligence base exceeding many 30 year olds, with a great sense of with to boot, and I'm the one who felt so grateful to have so may opportunities to spend time talking to him. He was soft spoken but, which didn't matter because his love for Jesus spoke loud and clear. Because of this, my comfort is knowing he is in heaven dancing with Vyda. Selfishly I miss him and knowing in this life I will see him no more. You know what though, I woudln't change a thing. He used to call me a nicklame that ohly my family members call me which is thought was so cool. The person arriving at him home on the days I was to stop and see him would hopen the door to hear Perky anounce, "Chrissy's coming today." I can't wait to see you again. Until then my friend, remember the deal you and I made for when you first get to heaven. ;) <3
