My deepest sympathy to your entire family. I am so sad to hear about Eric. I don't remember a time when even if everyone around him was sad he would come up with something funny and soon everyone would be smiling. His warm and caring eyes and his smile could light up a room. His laugh was infectious and his caring and compassion were without reservation. I know the lab I gave him - Daisy Mae - kept him on his toes but even with her being a "challenge" he loved her without question. The world lost a wonderful man with so much to give. I can imagine him at Heaven's gate asking Peter "what needs to be fixed...I'm your man". I will keep you all in my prayers.

I remember when Eric was in school and would stop by the fire station with his dad. Many times I would think to myself “does that kid ever stop talking? A few years later I had the opportunity and pleasure to work with Eric and I was always amazed with his mechanical ability to fix almost anything. My condolences to Eric’s family, he was a great friend, fireman, and one of the best HVAC mechanics who will be missed by many people whose lives he touched.

No one will deny that Eric was the life of the Sidney High School class of 1985. He was funny, witty, friendly to everyone and amazingly generous. It was so much fun growing up with him and his loss will surely be felt far and wide. I'm blessed to have known such an amazing guy. We'll all miss him.

We only found out today from a another friend who was also trying to get back in touch with Eric. Quite a shock. The last time we saw him was a year and a half ago when he visited us in our new home in Long Island. That was a whole weekend Eric at his best, 100% fun. After that we just couldn't get back in touch with him and so this fabuless weekend will remain our last memory of him. He was quite a character - in the best meaning of the word. A real loss. RIP, buddy

I extend my sympathies to the Barnes family on the loss of Eric. As the little brother of my classmates Mark & Alison - and about 10 years younger - he was the "little guy". Well the little guy grew up and was a riot! He was a talented hands-on service tech. Gone way too soon. Remember that smile & sense of humor. I know I will.

I was very saddened to hear that Eric had passed away. A flood of memories came back with all the neighborhood kids hanging out at the Barnes home. Eric was always in the middle of whatever all of us kids would throw together in the backyard. Eric was a great kid. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this very sad time.
