Obituary of Mary Gage

Mary Gage Afton, NY Mary Gage, 79, of Afton, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich. Mary was born on June 25, 1932, daughter of the late Ivan B. and Blanche (Foust) Miner in Trenton, NJ. She was a graduate of Bainbridge-Guilford High School. Mary worked at Bendix in Sidney where she met her future husband. She was married to Robert H. Gage, who predeceased her on June 16, 2006 after 53 years of marriage. She later worked as a waitress at the Olde Jericho Tavern in Bainbridge for many years. She was a long time member of the United Methodist Church of Sidney and a Past Member of the Ladies Fire Dept. Auxiliary in both Sidney and Afton. She enjoyed going on bus trips, and most of all, her family and friends. Mary was a loving wife and a devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed all those who were touched by her life. She is survived by: Son, David Gage of Phoenix, AZ Daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Ralph Knowlton of Greene Granddaughters: Devon and Stan Nelson of VA Victoria Gage of Phoenix, AZ Grandson, Alan Gage of Wichita, KS Special niece, Brandy Knowlton Extended loving family in Walden, Richard Jones and Barbara Stohner. In addition to her parents and husband, Robert, Mary was predeceased by two brothers, two sisters, her daughter-in-law, De Anna Gage and extended family Lena Jones. Friends may call from 11:00am until 12noon on Monday, October 17, 2011 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will follow at 12noon at the funeral chapel with Rev. James Bruinsma officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney.
