My wife, Phyllis, and I offer our prayers to the family! It was my good fortune to be one of the 1954 "Caravaners" who traveled to Europe with Carrie and Pastor Bill Lyon. We shared a lot of fond memories of places we visited and friends we made that summer! We enjoyed hearing from her at Christmas each year. We will miss her!

Carrie was my very dear friend since I was a child. She was my piano teacher, role model, neighbor and the one person I most looked up to all my life. Through her encouragement I joined the church choir at age 13 and have spent many wonderful years listening to and singing to her playing piano and organ. For several years we played the hymns together....she on the organ, and I on the piano. I can't tell you how much I have missed that since she moved to Norwich. I will always remember her with love. Bill, too, remembers her helping him with music when he was learning new songs on his accordian and just visiting with her about old times in the neighborhood.
Our heartfelt condolences to all of her family.

Carrie was a neighbor, friend, mentor and piano teacher to me in my pre-teen years. She was never to busy to stop and visit if I dropped by. She always encouraged me to be involved and to do my best in my study of piano as well as church choir and sunday school. Carried transported me as well as other neighborhood children to and from choir practice, sunday school and vacation bible school on a regular basis and most of us would not have been able to attend without her gracious assistance. Our whole married life has been in Florida, but I don't believe she ever missed a year without making contact with me at least at Christmas time. I loved her like an older sister as well as her Mother, Olinda (Grandma) Hallock. Carrie was certainly a very special and kind lady and I am so grateful that she was a part of my life.

I remember Carrie from a VERY young age. While my father, Pastor Bill Lyon was minister in Sidney Center, we would often be invited to the Hallock farm on Thanksgiving where a bountiful meal was prepared and served. There were football games to watch on TV and Scrabble to be played. Carrie would often visit our Lyon household in my father's next parish assignment - Morris, NY...often on Sunday afternoons. As time progressed the children - Anna, Joe and John - would be a part of "the visit" to our parsonage.
Carrie remained very loyal to the spirit of the Friendship Caravan and stayed in constant contact with Pastor Bill during his life time, which was very much appreciated by him.
Our hearts are heavy with sadness with the passing of Carrie. My thoughts and prayers are with Carrie's children and their families at this most difficult time. God bless you all!

Aunt Carrie was one of the most beautiful and inspiring people in the world. She never spoke badly of another person and she always managed to find a way to help everyone, whether it be through her words or her music or her candybar cookies. She never missed a concert, dance recital, play, birthday or any other event. She was dedicated to music and her family and friends. She always had a picture she had come across while going through some things and it always had a story that would make you smile because you could tell how happy she was to have been able to share it with someone. She was an absolutely wonderful lady, who will be missed very much and will forever be in our hearts.

All memories of Carrie are sweet, caring, encouraging.
She encouraged me to participate in The Lord's Acre Choir, from age 12; encouraged me to direct the youngsters in Vacation Bible School, and Kinder/Pre-school choir, what great fun that was. She played organ for my wedding, and every wedding held in our Methodist Church, that I attended. I will miss Carrie's love sweet smile.

While I never met Mrs. Lally, I know very well that her children were the best people to know and be with in school. Joe was in my class, I knew Anna from her piano-playing days with the chorus and John & I ran cross country. I extend my condolences and, based on previous entries here, it is clear that Mrs. Lally was a delight for all of you.

I have many fond memories of Carrie taking place during the 50's. I became a member of the Sidney Center Methodist Church sometime after 1951. Carrie was my church organist and choir organist and pianist. She played for my wedding in October 1960. She attended my mother's funeral in January of 2005 at the Sidney Methodist Church. What a beautiful smile Carrie had and such a contagious laugh. I talked to her son Joseph just a few days after the latest flood when I couldn't reach her by phone. I told Joseph I have a newspaper clipping of Carrie and Ed when they got married. I didn't see Carrie very often being way down here in Texas but I will truly miss her as she was a big part of my life in the church. My condolences to her family. Emily Smith Droddy

I first met Carrie in the late 1940s when she became my piano teacher. It never crossed my mind that we would become so closely entwined over the years. She was one of the people who encouraged me to start attending the Sidney Center Methodist Church. Then talked me into becoming a member of the choir. In 1954 we spent 3 months in England, Scotland and Wales as members of Pastor
Bill Lyon's Christian Friendship Caravan. During my teenage years through adulthood when the church service ended I always headed for the organ to visit with Carrie and for many years with Gramma Hallock, Carrie's
mom, seated in the pew in front of the organ. Very special people. Carrie served as organist at the Sidney Center Methodist Church for 74 years. What a record of dedication. This was a special lady. Now that she is
gone people realize how important she was to her community and to her many friends.

I have so many fond memories of Carrie. The many years she taught me piano - I started in 3rd grade and continued into high school.I always enjoyed getting her family updates each Christmas. She was so much more to my family than my piano teacher - she was a true friend, and a good Christian who will truly be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.
