Obituary of Doris T. Paul

Doris T. Paul Masonville, NY Doris Paul, 81, of Masonville, passed away peacefully at the NYS Veterans Home on Tuesday, August 9, 2011. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Harold; her three sons: Harry and Mary Paul of Unadilla, Ken and Denise Paul of Oxford and Richard and Sheila Paul of Masonville; 8 grandchildren: Jamie and Randy Gransbury of Sidney Center, Jesse and Susan Peterson of Long Island, Jaret and Rachel Paul of Sidney, Jenna Paul of Rochester, Ethan Paul of Oxford, Karla Paul of Masonville, Clarissa and Ben Riker of Sidney and Travis DeMott of Milwaukee; 7 great grandchildren: J.P., Abigail, James, Maya, Madison, Casey and Jonah, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her sisters Virginia VanKeuren and Gloria Ammerman. Doris was born in Andes, NY on May 17, 1930, a daughter of Hammie and Naomi (Merritt) George. Doris graduated from Andes Central School, as well as SUNY Delhi. She worked for many years as a nurse at the Delaware Valley Hospital in Walton, NY, and was an active member of the Masonville Federated Church. Doris and Harold enjoyed country life, and spent most of their vacations camping with friends and family in campgrounds from Canada to Florida, eventually settling into a winter vacation home in Palmetto, Florida. She will be deeply missed by all, and remembered as a kind and caring mother and friend. Friends are invited to call from 11:00am-1:00pm on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm at the funeral chapel. Burial will take place in Andes Cemetery in Andes, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made the NYS Veterans Home, 4207 State Highway 220, Oxford, NY 13830 or the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
