I believe Dick was in the inaugural induction Class for the area Bowling Hall of Fame, scoring the first 600 series on record. A gentle man with a certain smile and a slew of good friends, Dick will surely be missed. My condolences to the Halbert family.

I was talking this morning to my oldest son that just graduated from college and I was reminiscing about when I was entering "the real world". As a newly commissioned Naval Officer in 1985, I was temporarily (3 months) stationed in Jacksonville and Dick and Erma graciously invited me to stay with them. I met them when I was 5 yrs. old and they were two of the kindest people I ever knew. I regret losing touch with them about 20 years ago, but, even at 50 yrs. old now, I learned an important life lesson today about getting "caught up" in the day-to-day rat race of life and what little effort it would have taken to prevent missing out on years of friendship with the limited number of amazing people we meet in life. God willing, I will make it into heaven so I can see Dick and Erma again. May they both rest in peace together in heaven.
