Jeffery "Jeffy" Allen Curtis, beloved son of Robert F. and Ruth (Searles) Curtis passed away on Monday, July 4, 2011 at Binghamton General Hospital following a brief illness. Jeffery was born on July 5, 1981 in Sidney. He attended BOCES until he was 21, and then attended the DayHab in Norwich until the time of his death. Jeffery was a "Special and Stubborn" little man who taught everyone around him the true meaning of love, strength and courage. He hit many obstacles in his young life, but overcame each one. He was loved by all who knew him. Jeffy loved Mr. Sunshine, the color blue and his favorite "punky pillow".
Jeffery is survived by his father, Robert of Bainbridge; his mother, Ruth of Bainbridge; his brother Timothy R. Curtis of Bainbridge; two nieces: Jacqueline and Kaitlyn; his maternal grandmother, Marie Searles of Bainbridge; his paternal grandmother, Ruth Hovey of Bainbridge, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by his "Best Buddy" Berton Roof of Bainbridge and his extended family, Gramma Winnie Roof and the Roof family; and his caregivers at DayHab in Norwich, especially Henny and Kelly, his nurse.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Charles L. Curtis, and his maternal grandfather, Edward L. Searles.
Friends are invited to call on Friday, July 8, 2011 from 11:00am until 12:30pm at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will follow at 12:30 at the funeral chapel. Burial will take place in Greenlawn Cemetery, Bainbridge, following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to The Wheelchair Foundation at www.wheelchairfoundation.org. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.landersfh.com.
