Millard Louis Dean, 84, of Afton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at his home. Millard was born on January 27, 1927, son of the late Ray and Anna (Pickett) Dean in Masonville. He was employed as a plater by Amphenol Corporation, formerly Scintilla, in Sidney for 40 years, retiring in 1987. On November 2, 1946, Millard was married to Thelma Niles in Masonville. They shared 64 years of love and marriage together. Millard was an avid outdoorsman and greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as camping. Millard and Thelma belonged to the Leatherstocking J's camping club for over ten years, traveling all over to camp. Millard was also a skilled woodworker. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be truly missed.

Son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Arlene Dean of Cortland
Daughter, Pat Dean of Afton
Three grandchildren: Nathan, Chava and Carrie
His twin sister, Mildred Belknap of Masonville as well as his sisters: Anna Cuyle of New Berlin, Marion Pierce of Walton and Alice Sloan of Oneonta
He was also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Millard was predeceased by four brothers: Thomas Dean, Raymond Dean, Clarence Dean and Ernest Dean; and two sisters: Marjorie Robbins and Eleanor Vicarelli.
