To the Power's family, so sad to hear of Mr. Power's passing. Another great teacher gone, I have wonderful memories of his classes and loved his accent, especially when he talked about Bar Harbour. Last saw him a few year ago, he always remembered me and I'll always remember him. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

The last few years, I would only see Paul at 5:30 mass in Sidney; never knew he was a deacon as well! I heard all about Providence College, that's for sure. And when Paul retired, he had that arcade where B & H Variety used to be. That is where I met his son Paul. We talked a lot of sports and I now wish that I also had him as a teacher. But somehow, I think I did. So glad you're with your son again, you really missed him I know.

Dear Powers Family: Your Dad was an awesome man who touched many lives over the years. He made learning a joy and an adventure. As others have said we loved his accent, his humor, and easy smile. Bless you in the coming days. Peace and rest now, Mr. Powers, at your Father's side in Heaven. We celebrate your life for all that you have served as a good Shepard.

I speak for my brother too when I say that I truly loved this man (and his wife, Ann) like a member of my own family. I suppose this is why we referred to him as "Uncle Paul. There’s no doubt that my mother could not have found better people to take care of us than Ann and Paul. He will be missed greatly, but I know he's made his way to God. I send my condolences - with love - to Ann, Brian, Denise, Marie, Kathleen, and family. God Bless.

Before I even met "Harve", he was a gift to me - literally! It was during my first Teen Seminar retreat and "Meatball" was my senior staffer. At the end of the retreat, we'd all grown close and gave one another symbolic gifts. Meatball's gift to me was the love of her life - Harve.
That gift became the introduction to another portion of my family - the one I chose, and together, we have shared weddings, funerals, showers, tremendous joys, and profound sadness. There was a junior prom with a cougar in there, too, but I'm pretty sure the whole family would like to forget that. :-)
While the miles may separate us now and keep me from physically being there to crack open the "Frank Perdue wine" and sit around the table reminiscing with you, please know that my heart is most assuredly in New York, somewhere in the vicinity of Pleasant Street, and my thoughts and love are there in great supply, too.

Anna & Kids: I'm sorry I could not be there for the funeral. As soon as I got the word, I looked back to those three years of monthly weekends at Christ the King for the Deacon Formation porgram. Oh what fun we had! Those Friday and Saturday nights we snuck into the kitchen, with Joe Gilbert running the show... the countless inane Saturday night sessions of "Pastoral Reflections" on why we thought we ought to or needed to be ordained, the horribly boring classes on Church history and the Sunday afternoon sessions ... but it was all worth it. I met so many great men and their wives, particularly Paul and you. There's only a few of us left from the 3rd group of deacons; Paul will be missed greatly. Not only does he join your son, but he'll once again be with Joe, Ralph, and Hugh. Be assured of my love and prayers for you ... you and Paul enriched my life beyond measure. And to you Paul, please remember me when you come into our Father's presence. You were a good and faithful servant!

I'm so sorry for your loss. Mr. Powers was a great teacher..he always put a smile on my face! I'll always remember him as a comforting face and voice when I was knocked out from a bicycle accident I had in the 70's. He rode in the ambulance with me and reassured me all the way!! He was my Angel I thought....I'm sure he is your angel now !!! God Bless
