Obituary of Eleanor Kathryn Beebe

Eleanor Kathryn Beebe Afton, NY Eleanor K. Beebe, 84, of Afton and formerly of Schenectady passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at her home. Eleanor was born on May 13, 1926 in Schenectady, New York to German immigrant parents, and experienced the deprivation of living through the Great Depression of the 1930's. Although poor, she and her family always gave a small portion to others, their church, and the Schenectady City Mission. On May 25, 1945, Eleanor was married to William C. Beebe in Miami, FL and gave birth to two sons, William L. and Richard L. Beebe. In addition to being a loving mother, she also helped in her husband's printing business and was a very proficient IBM type setter. Eleanor enjoyed interacting with customers and helping couples with their wedding invitations. Eleanor and Bill had the highest work ethic and spirit of giving back to the customers and community at large. Because of this generous spirit, her family was ultimately successful. Eleanor enjoyed helping veterans, and was a County Chaplin for the Schenectady chapter of the American Legion. Eleanor was also active in church, and was a Sunday school teacher at Princetown Evangelical Presbyterian Church for many years. Eleanor and Bill helped in the Billy Graham Crusade in 1995. They also worked and contributed vigorously to the Schenectady City Mission. Since 2004, Eleanor and Bill have resided in Afton, and have attended the United Methodist Church of Afton. Eleanor is survived by: 2 Sons and a daughter-in-law: William and Naomi Beebe of Citrus Heights, CA Richard L. Beebe of Afton Grandson, Christian A. Beebe, MD and his wife, Jan Granddaughter, Karen Beebe As well as several nieces and nephews Eleanor was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, William C. Beebe, on November 6, 2010. Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 from 1:00-2:00pm at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm with Rev. Dolly Tarreto, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Afton, officiating. Committal services will take place at 10:00am on Saturday, May 21, 2011 in Glenwood Cemetery in Afton. Memorial contributions in Eleanor's memory may be directed to the Afton Emergency Squad, Spring St. Afton, NY 13730. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.landersfh.com.
