James A. Chabot, 75, of Unadilla, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born on April 28, 1933, son of the late Armand J. and Mabel (Deyo) Chabot in Champlain, NY. Jim graduated with the class of 1951 from Brookfield Central School. He went on to get his accounting degree from LaSalle University in Chicago, Ill. He was a certified financial planner, as well as an enrolled agent, licensed to practice before the I.R.S. On July 2, 1955, Jim married Pauline Lamb in Fulton, NY. Jim served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1955-1959.
As a local businessman, Jim owned and ran Professional Bookkeeping and Tax Services, Inc. in Sidney for over 35 years. Jim was a longtime member of the Sidney United Methodist Church, serving on numerous committees and holding a variety of positions within his church. He was a member and treasurer for the Board of Directors of the Sidney Federal Credit Union for over 25 years. Jim was also a member of the National Association of Tax Professionals, the National Association of Enrolled Agents (one of the first in the Tri-Town Area), the National Aeronautical Association and a charter member of the Tri-Town Modelers.

Jim was predeceased by his only daughter, Gail Chabot, on February 27, 2007.
Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 from 6:00-8:00pm at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main Street Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 11:00am at the Sidney United Methodist Church, 12 Liberty St. Sidney with Rev. Barbara Green, pastor officiating. Burial will take place at Poolville Cemetery, Hamilton, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sidney United Methodist Church, 12 Liberty St. Sidney, NY 13838.
