Definitely an icon in Bainbridge, but also the
Tri-Town communities.
Thank you for a lifetime of service, not only done what appeared to be "effortless" but also with a smile and laughter the whole time.

I'll always remember Doc, especially for the time I went for a ride with him in his Mercedes. God was surely with us that wild trip. And now, Doc is with God, I imagine he even poked or pinched or teased St. Peter at the pearly gate. Whether in Bainbridge, or in Ghana, Doc was the epitome of living Jesus' commandment to love your neighbor, and to help those who are in need.

Grandpy was an amazing person all the way arround. I will never forget him for he touched the lives of so many people without even trying. My fovorent memories are: Early morning coffees. Well he got coffee we got hot chocolate with whip cream and a cream cheese bagel. No one could spread cream cheese on a bagel as smoothly as grandpy, it almost looked too good to eat.
Walking backwards when the wind blew.
And who can forget the foot stomping wars.
Grandpy you will alwyse be forever remembered and missed in the hearts of all of us whose lives you have made an impact on. I love you :)

I remember Doc always laughing and picking on someone. He would often stop at my parents house after a call, complete with the rubber boots and stained overalls and have coffee. It does seem like yesterday. Doc certainly was an asset to the community of Bainbridge and he will truly be missed. Jane, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Your family holds a special place in my heart.

Our parents were farmers and that is how we came to know "Doc". You'd come to the barn anytime help was needed sometimes in the wee hours of the morning.
You stayed, no matter how long it took, because you cared.
You always had time for a cup of coffee and we could count on you for a laugh.
Thank you Doc, we'll never forget you and you will be missed!

"Needledinger" as Doc would say! He was a trip to say the least. I think he had time for everyone but himself... how did he do it! I hope he knew how much we all appreciated him! Hugs to all the family. He will be missed by many!

I have SO many terrific memories of Dr. Benson, eventhough we only lived in the office apartment for about a year. He referred to my sister and I as "The Smith Girls" and never by our name. He and Jane instilled so many lessons and values into my life, and I think back on them frequently and realize how blessed I am for having had this incredible family in my young life. My prayers are with you, Jane, Kristy, and all of the Bensons.

I had the pleasure of working with DRs. Ken & Jane for two years in the early '60s. Both were very "down to earth" people, very energetic and always ready to help anyone when ever the call came in. They always were willing to take the time to listen and share in the problems of the farm families.
My God wrap his arms around Ken and keep him forever. Rest in peace my friend.

Jane, what a wonderful family you and Ken raised! I've had the joy of Kim's friendship for nearly 40 years, and during that time I've had the opportunity to meet many members of your tribe. As you think back about your long life with Ken, I hope you gather great comfort from the terrific sons and daughters you raised together. With great affection for the Bensons, Harriet

Growing up in Bainbridge with dairy farmer parents Doc has always been a part of my life. As children my brother and I always loved it when Doc needed to stop in. He was always full of fun. He was instrumental in my being a Rotary Exchange Student in 1985. He and his family have always been good friends of my parents and all of my family. He is so missed. I just thought he was wonderful. My prayers are with the entire Benson family.

My Great Uncle Kenneth, Although I had not seen you in a number of years. I will always remember the humor you carried with you where ever you went I suppose. I think I have you humor. A Benson trait I suppose. I met a Veterinarian in south florida who when told who my uncle was he said wait just a min. and he came back with a picture of Uncle Kenneth with his Hawaian shirt at a verterinary confrence. He had not so tall tails about his President of the association. I know he will be missed. I think of his path often and hope only to follow even a day in his footsteps. Forever in admiration, Jill Darling

Another Bainbridge icon goes home to the LORD.I shed tears of joy for "Doc's"life and tears of sorrow for the family's loss."Doc was one of my mentors growing up in Bainbridge.I remember the trips going on calls, the conversations in our kitchen on kirby st and the times he took me aside and imparted some wisdom about life( I tell my grandchildren they are life lessons, they call them grandpas lectures). Jane you have been the good wife in sickness and in health, godd times and bad and the rock that one can cling to. As a family you gave back to the community, led by example and when people asked for a comment they heard the truth. As a young boy I would get to your house early on Sat mornings to ride on calls with Doc and when those rides became crowded, I remember sitting in the kitchen with you Jane learning how to make a apple pie or listening to a life lesson. I remember going on a call with Doc to Charlie Hagers and as was the rule us kids would go play in the barn/hay loft etc.We saw a deer carcass hanging up and ran down to tell Doc that there was a derr hanging in the hayloft out of season. Charlie turned to us and said, Thats mountain beef. Please cherish the memories and remembers you are loved and respected by many. I know GOD loves the BENSONS.

Ken and Jane Benson as well all their children have been great friends of the Cleary family ever since we moved to Bainbridge, NY in the late 60's My brothers and I learned so much from Dr Benson and treasure every memory of going to farms with him in the Benz! He taught me how to roast a pig in the ground, and that's a lost art! I tribute my love of all animals to him and his wife!
