Obituary of Pauline Martha DeForest

Pauline DeForest of Unadilla, age 77, passed away peacefully at home after a long illness on Monday, February 19, 2024. Pauline was born on June 27, 1946 in Sidney, NY to Floyd Blackman and Mary (Parks) Blackman. She graduated from Sidney Central School in 1964, and went on to pursue her secretarial degree at Albany Business College. Pauline returned to Unadilla after completing her degree and worked at Medicoach and York Modern. Pauline married David DeForest on September 24, 1966, and they raised 2 children. Pauline was a loving a devoted wife and mother, and stayed home with her children for several years before returning to work at Marine Midland Bank in Unadilla. Pauline later began working at the NYS Police Troop C Barracks and continued for 26 years, retiring after a long career. Pauline was predeceased by her parents, and her brothers Oliver and Burton(Fran). She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Dave, son Dave Jr (Kristin) of Lake Clear, NY, daughter Jennifer Meconi (Art) of Bedford, NH, grandsons Peter and Nathan Meconi; sisters-in-law, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, cherished friends and her feline companion Radar. Pauline was a lifelong member of the Unadilla Friends Church, serving for many years as the church treasurer. Pauline also enjoyed ceramics and created beautiful pieces for every holiday. Her greatest joy in later years was spending time with her 2 grandsons and traveling with her husband. She was grateful to be able to travel one last time to see her oldest grandson's high school graduation in NH in June of 2023. A memorial service will be held to celebrate Pauline in late June. Donations in her memory can be directed to the Unadilla Friends Church, and loved ones are encouraged to feed the birds or plant a tree in her honor as she so enjoyed watching her birds outside, even in her final days.
