Obituary of Nedra I. Ostrander

Nedra I. Ostrander Mt. Upton, NY Nedra I. Ostrander passed away on Friday, November 26, 2010 at Oneonta Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Oneonta. She was born on December 15, 1919, daughter of the late George and Lina Hyatt. On April 14, 1940, she married Kenneth Ostrander in Unadilla. He predeceased her in July of 1999. Nedra worked at Kent's Department Store in Sidney for over 30 years, retiring in 1981. Nedra was an honorary charter member of Borden Hose Co. Auxiliary and Chenango County Auxiliary of Mt. Upton and Rockdale, as well as a member of the East Guilford Presbyterian Church. Before her health failed her, Nedra enjoyed crafting, knitting, traveling, word puzzles and Senior Citizens Bingo. She is survived by: Sons and daughters-in-law: Charles and Vikki Ostrander of Unadilla and Edward and Gail Ostrander of Sidney Daughter and son-in-law: Sharon and Arnold Harris of Mt. Upton 10 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. As well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Nedra was predeceased by her sister, Louise Caden. Friends are invited to call on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 from 1:00-2:00pm at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm at the funeral chapel with Rev. Veleda Banta officiating. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney. Memorial contributions in Nedra's name may be directed to the East Guilford Presbyterian Church or to Borden Hose Co.-Mt. Upton Fire Department.
