I remember Richard from family reunions when I was in my teens. My Dad (Claude Fairbairn) always took us to N.Y. on summer vacation to visit his Dad and other family members. I miss those trips. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I will always remember Richard riding around in his "A"
with his Derby hat on.
A very nice man that I never heard him speak ill of anyone.
One time he did correct me when I called him Dick and he told me his name was Richard. Which I respect because that's the name his mother gave him.

Grandpa Fairbairn showed me how to drive a manual (or at least showed me how it works!) in his old army jeep. I’ll never forget riding up through the woods in the front seat with him. I probably asked him to go up and down that path more times than i have fingers, but he never said no and was happy to do so. Miss and love you always Grandpa

Diane and extended Fairbairn family-so very sorry to hear of your father's passing. So many of these larger than life figures for our small town who had such a wealth of knowledge about so many things. Richard was a loyal friend to my husband and me for many years. He was always willing to help others, even when he himself was not feeling well. His knowledge of Model As was endless and a lot of A's run better because of his touch. He will be missed by many of us who knew him.
