Obituary of Robert W. Sandell

Robert Sandell, 85, of Guilford, New York passed away April 30, 2023. He was born August 31, 1937 in South Dakota to Lloyd and Ellen Sandell. He had a brother Lloyd, sisters: Doris, Elaine and Lorraine. He was married to Janet Oyen for 50 loving years. They raised 4 sons: Kevin, Keith (Joy McMicken), Kraig (Lou Ann) and Kyle. He was a proud grandfather to Joshua and Katie (Justin Vandermark) and his great grandchildren Kylie and Jasper. Robert joined and honorably served in the United States Marine Corp as military police and achieved the rank of infantry sergeant. He worked in road construction demolition until his retirement. He was one of the main blasters on some of the major interstates throughout New York State. He was an avid New York Yankees fan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He and Janet enjoyed trying for the big win at the local casinos and Robert is remembered for playing his daily numbers. The family gathered for a private viewing and sharing of memories which included Robert's quick wit and enjoyment of a good joke. Burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery in Guilford. Memorial gifts in his name may be directed to the Guilford Fire Department and Emergency Squad if desired.
