Carlin family-
Just learned of Jims passing. Sorry for your family’s loss.
He was a blast to shoot the sh** with at work, funny guy. Not sure when he retired from NYSEG, but the Norwich storeroom wasn’t the same after.
I feel lucky that I was able to visit with him a couple of times during his “retirement” years at the hardware store.
I know he is resting peacefully now, hang on to the memories.

I had the privilege of knowing Jim (“Jimmy”) Carlin since we were children. We grew up together in Bainbridge and graduated Bainbridge-Guilford HS in 1966.
This was a man who always had a grin on his face and possessed an infectious sense of humor. It’s a rare thing to know a man in this life who never uttered an unkind word toward anyone…ever. That was Jimmy.
This is such a great loss and I send heartfelt blessings for peace and healing to JoAnn, their children, grandchildren and the entire Carlin clan.
Jimmy Carlin was truly One of The Good Ones.

JOANN: We all go back for many years and I wish I could be there to offer a hug and support just like you did for me when my Dad passed.
Jim was a beautiful person and knowing how many people share this will hopefully bring you a smile.
We know Billy was the prankster of the two of the brother's but I am sure Jim was behind the idea of some of those pranks!
He will always remain with you and your family.
Warmest regards and remembrance.

1947-2023, a lifetime of love, given and received.
Early bonds of friendship formed with both Jim and JoAnn are treasures. Anecdotes from a shared childhood are forever engrained in my heart and memory, the “long and winding road” of time. Jim will be remembered for the gift of humanity that he so graciously offered to each of us. Sending my heartfelt condolences-

When I think of Uncle Jim the words witty, kind and selfless come to mind. I have many fond memories of growing up with my uncle, aunt and cousins but coming back to visit with my own children really paint the picture of how selfless he is. 2016 He spent the day at the pond with my boys and niece and rowed the boat (heard about that lol), fishing and even took the fish off the hook because nobody would touch it! They all have great memories they will remember forever! Thank you for being you Uncle Jim! You made this world a nicer place and we will miss your friendly, loving gestures. Rest in peace ❤️

Q: What was one of your favorite qualities of James?
A: I loved how fun and easy it was always being around him. His sense of humor made everything light and laughing made your sides hurt, especially when he’d been with Bucky. The memories they used to share were classic!! I will always remember him smiling. He was always so warm and welcoming as well. Visiting him and JoAnn was always a pleasure. I will always have happy memories.

Jim was more than a nephew to me. He was my friend and the person I loved spending time with. We all lived on a farm in Bainbridge. His dad, my brother Abe was a dad to me. I have so many memories of the great times we had at Carlin reunions at our home on Oneida Lake, spending time together fishing on the St Lawrence river, visiting in Florida and just spending time with our families. Jim was always an important part of my life and I will miss him very much.
