I've known Ray since roughly 1975 as a neighbor then consequently became a daughter in law but it was 15 years ago this month that i "saw Ray". He was in a waiting room and he was crying for his son. I saw Ray, a father, a grandfather, a husband and a man. That was the day I started loving Ray and not just tolerating him. I thank God for roses from ashes.

Some of my very favorite memories are visiting Poppy and Daddy (Tim Engel) when they were milking the cows! I would bring grape lollipops for Poppy because they were his favorite. I also have fond memories of seeing him sleeping in his chair at the farm house with his head tilted all the way back! It always made me giggle as a little girl but I came to realize he was one of the hardest working men I had ever known. The farm was a cornerstone of my childhood that helped shape who I am today, and I am beyond grateful! I love you Poppy, rest easy!
