Obituary of Lucy Earline Connor

Lucy Earline Connor Sidney, NY Lucy E. Connor, 90, of Sidney passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 after a long illness at the New York State Veteran's Home in Oxford. Lucy was born on December 7, 1919 in Colquitt County, Georgia; daughter of the late George W. Ladson and Sallie (Barnswell) Ladson. Lucy was married to Benedict C. Connor; he predeceased her in 1998. She loved to sew and enjoyed cooking for her family. Her love for cooking brought her to The Hospital in Sidney in 1957 where she worked in the Dietary Department for 25 years, retiring in 1982. She was a proud member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Sidney. Lucy is survived by her daughter, Theodosia M. Ostmeier; her granddaughters Kelly M. Ostmeier Lieb and husband, Christopher C. Lieb, Shannon A.A. Combs, and Erin L. Kraiza and husband, Adam L. Kraiza; one sister, Laura Sapp (Moultrie, GA); two brothers, Herold Ladson and Max Ladson (both of Moultrie, GA); great grandchildren Evan and Ella Kraiza, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters: Lillian O'Conner, Francis Johnson, Claudia MacDonald, Barbara Dampier, Maryann Hamilton, Bernard Ladson and Donald Ladson, all of Georgia. Friends are invited to call from 2:00-4:00pm on Sunday, October 31, 2010 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Monday, November 1, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 15 Liberty St. Sidney with Rev. Fr. Gordon Polenz as celebrant. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney. Memorial contributions in Lucy's name may be made to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org.
