June B. Brazee, 75, of Sidney, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at her home. She was born on March 29, 1935 in Deposit to Daniel and Gertrude Baker. She graduated from Deposit Central School in 1952. Following her graduation she earned her secretarial degree from Mildred Elley Secretarial School in Albany.
June married Norman R. Brazee on July 27, 1956. Norman predeceased her on December 27, 2005. A long-time resident of Sidney, she worked as a secretary in the District Office and retired as Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent of Sidney Central Schools in December of 1992.
June was a member of the Sidney United Methodist Church, and she volunteered at the SUMC Food Bank. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she held several offices including Grand Matron. She was also actively involved in several other organizations including The Hospital Guild, Prospect Hill Cemetery Association, and the Jericho Fiber Arts craft group. An avid quilter, June also belonged to the Sunday Piece Makers Quilt Guild of Masonville and the School House Chicks of Trout Creek.
June is survived by her son Michael (Jill) Brazee of Sidney and her daughter Teri (Scott) Harris of Cicero. She also leaves behind four granddaughters, Erica and Ashley Brazee of Sidney, and Aubrey and Brigitte Harris of Cicero, sister-in-law Audrey Scherer of Walton, life-long best friend Betty Palmer of Sidney Center, Uncle Sam, Aunt Ruth Ann, several nieces and nephews and many other good neighbors, friends and associates.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 4, 2010 at 11:00 am at C. H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, NY. The family will receive friends at C. H. Landers Funeral Chapel on Sunday, October 3rd from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of June Brazee to the Sidney United Methodist Church Food Bank c/o Sidney United Methodist Church, 12 Liberty St., Sidney NY, or the Prospect Hill Cemetery Association, PO Box 272, Sidney NY.
